CASE STUDY:

AD Served for the Royal Navy for 13 years where he left the Navy at the rank of Seaman.

AD came to Jon through London Op Courage where he was experiencing low mood and depression, expressing feelings of hopelessness and loneliness. AD mentioned having nothing to look forward to. He lives alone with minimal contact with his adult son. After leaving the navy he got into construction did a carpentry course been doing that ever since. However, AD fell out of work and needed employment support from Walking with the Wounded to get back in to sustainable employment.

Being out of work for over 10 months AD needed an updated CV. Jon supported AD with updating his current CV and from there AD managed to secure several job interviews. A former veteran that Jon supported, contacted Jon to say that he is now a manager for a large facilities company in London and that they’re currently recruiting for a facilities officer. Jon spoke with AD about the position and managed to secure him a job interview.

AD was offered the position on the spot. AD could drive but didn’t have a car, however the new position gave him a company van. Having worked in the construction industry AD wore old clothes to work, however he needed some internal PPE for the new job. With the support of Lifetime, AD managed to get work trousers, waterproof jacket, work safety shoes and a bag so we can put his tools in.  AD has now been working at the facilities company for 5 months and is enjoying the routine of employment again.

Most of my Veterans I support mainly need money for PPE courses and laptops. Lifetimes has provided all of this and to be honest I personally the grants so useful and when I ask my Veterans what they need to progress into employment I can always turn to Lifetimes. The support that Lifetimes have made  for my veterans have been life changing for them.

CASE STUDY:

KN served in the British Army Air Corps for 2 years where he had to leave for medical reasons cutting his military career short.

KN came through London Op Courage where he was getting support from them with his mental health but needed employment support and was open to ideas. KN was registered to attend the Building Heroes course as well as a personal track safety course but his primary goal was to get employment.

KN wanted a job where he could be closer to his family in Cambridgeshire and living in London he didn't get to see his kids as much. Jon supported KN update his CV and supported him apply for a grant through Lifetime Charity to get him a laptop so he can search and apply for his own jobs.

Not long after getting his laptop, one of Jon contacts, Jeremy who runs a charity called 'Forces for Farming' approached Jon to see if he had anyone who be interested in working for a large Estate in Cambridge doing maintenance work. The job came with a basic salary as well as free accommodation. Jon spoke with KN about the position and KN said that he has experience working on an estate and would like to be put forward for the position. Jeremy managed to secure KN a job interview at the estate.

Before KN attended the interview he managed to get a suit from 'Suited and Booted' as he didn't own one. KN needed a haircut so WWTW paid for him to get his haircut and bought his train ticket so he could attend his interview in Cambridgeshire. Two days after KN interview he got a call from the estate offering him the position. KN accepted the offer, however needed white goods for his accommodation at the Estate as it came unfurnished. Jon spoke with his contact at SSAFA and managed to get a £1000 worth of white goods for KN. KN has now been working at the estate for 7 months and is really enjoying the job.
